VPRO gids - Together for the better
Illustrating the cover of the vpro gids has been high on my wish list for a loooong time, so I was very happy when they asked me for this assignment.
The other thing that made this assignment extra fun and special was that I was sent to Schoonrewoerd, as a kind of reportage illustrator.
On a cold February morning I explored the village and took many photos which I later put together and used as the basis for this illustration and a drawing accompanying the article. This is definitely something I would like to do more often, sooo... if you're working for a magazine or newspaper and need an illustrated reportage, think of me!! :-)

The illustrations were made for an article about Tv program Tegenlicht, Kloofdichters this episode was about sustainability projects in Schoonrewoerd a small village south of Utrecht. The local supermarket received €80.000 from its fellow villagers when they threatened to close due to rising energy prices. Subsequently, the village has got a taste for it and all kinds of initiatives are being developed, including a plan to install a lot of solar panels and a bench for leftover food.
